We Went on Vacation. 3 Months Ago.

So, this post comes a tad late, but you know how the saying goes.  For vacation this year, the BF and I went on our annual trip to our family home in gorgeous Jamestown, Rhode Island.  Due to odd timing, we were forced to visit at the very beginning of June, when RI is not at it's absolute warmest.  Although it was too cool to swim, the weather was gorgeous, and we had a great relaxing time NOT running around taking day trips to various cities.

One of the things that was strange about this particular visit was that there was only 1 person (the most awesome cousin in the world, Goolie) in the house with us at the time.  And even that doesn't really count, as she lives on Jamestown so is a permanent resident.  Needless to say, it was very peaceful, but it was a welcome change when we were joined on our last day by my uncle, his wife, and all of her extended family.  They are definitely a fun bunch!

Here are some of the things we did:

Cliff Walk in Newport, utterly gorgeous

Gully, mascot for the Newport Gulls!

Nothing like Scallop Chowder on the deck of the Mooring!

Brick Marketplace in Newport

Goin' to market at McQuades!

Oooh, fantastically creepy Fort Wetherill!

Lookin' for steamers in Newport!

Ooh-la-la, we got the steamers!

Sweenor's Chocolates, where Mom gets her chocolate wintergreen patties!

I found this cute little snail on our steps.  He looks like a Gary.

Not sure what this is, but I thought it was cool.  It is not alive, don't worry.

Lovely windmill on Jamestown

This is my seafood-stuffed lobster from Duffy's.  Holy crap!

Point Judith Lighthouse

Castle Rock Lighthouse, on the tip of Newport.  In case you couldn't tell, the BF has a lighthouse fetish.

We made ourselves some Grandee's Spaghetti!

Oh, and the best part.  We flew into Boston and picked up our rental car from Enterprise, and for the entire hour-long trip back to the house, every now and then I would be like,"Something smells like cat food.  That's really weird."  The next day, getting into the car, I notice this styrofoam container shoved under the seat.  "What the heck is that?", I wondered.
Surprise, the previous renter's leftovers!  Rotten salmon with decomposing lemon.  Ugggh, grody!
